It’s back! Historic Homes for the Holidays 2024 is a go!

Historic Homes for the Holidays 2024
Friday, December 6 from 4 – 8 p.m.
Saturday, December 7 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Hello, friends! I could not be more excited to bring you another Historic Homes for the Holidays tour. I hope you will join me and thousands of other holiday enthusiasts, design devotees, and preservation activists in celebrating nine beautiful historic homes right in the heart of Idaho Falls. Without further ado, here are this year’s houses:

I am honestly stoked about every single one of these houses—and for a host of reasons. First, I’m a teacher at heart, and for those of you who would like to give historic-home ownership a try but lack confidence, two of these houses are must stops. The owners are seasoned preservationists, and they are ready to answer all your questions.

Second, this is my first year having midcentury architecture on the tour, and I am thrilled about that. A home must be 50-plus years old to be considered historic, and friends, midcentury now qualifies. These houses are beautiful, and so are the owners who live there. Do not rule out midcentury as a lovely historic option for home ownership!

Third, we have one of the oldest houses in town on this year’s tour—how often do you get a chance to peek inside an 1890s house in your own backyard?! I am in love with this house (and a little jealous it isn’t mine).

And then we have a few homes that are brilliant in their preservation and design. You will leave completely inspired with ideas for adding character to your own place, regardless of its age.

Where to buy tickets

You can buy your $15 ticket in person at RE/MAX Prestige, 1684 Elk Creek Drive, or online right here. If you make your purchase online, you’ll get a couple emails; the receipt acts as your entry pass, and the other provides a list of addresses. Remember to wear slip-on shoes for easy removal and a smile on your face because NOTHING jump starts the Christmas spirit like this historic-home tour.

What about the proceeds?

This year’s proceeds will fund historic preservation projects our city really needs, one of which I’ll announce at the end of the tour. It’s a joint effort with the city, and it’s going to give a boost to the culture of one of our most important neighborhoods. That’s all I’ll say for now, but … it’s going to be noteworthy. Rest assured, every dollar in proceeds will be funneled right back into preservation (and I’ll keep you in the loop on every penny I spend).

Happiest (almost) holidays! Buy your ticket today.

  1. Do you go from house to house with a group or drop in to the houses during the time frame on your own schedule and pace?
